Press Ganey Acquries Leonis Client Strategic Management Decisions (SMD)
ATLANTA and BOSTON – January 8, 2020 – Press Ganey Associates, LLC, a technology leader for the financial industry backed by leading Private Equity firms Ares Management Corporation and Leonard Green and Partners, announced its acquisition of Strategic Management Decisions (SMD), a leading health care HR consulting and predictive analytics company. SMD’s proprietary technology enables health systems to optimize their talent acquisition and talent management efforts and realize measurable improvements in key HR performance metrics. The acquisition complements and extends Press Ganey’s Workforce and Engagement Solution with analytic insights that pinpoint and prioritize opportunities to achieve cultural alignment, drive engagement, and build caregiver resilience.
“Delivering care that is safe, high-quality, and patient-centered requires an engaged and resilient workforce,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Chairman and CEO, Press Ganey. “To provide exceptional care, leaders must prioritize their improvement efforts and human capital investments to enable caregivers to perform at their best every day. The addition of SMD reinforces Press Ganey’s commitment to helping organizations improve the essential human element of care for patients and caregivers alike.”
Through its proprietary technology and unique, value-driven approach, SMD identifies levers that will have the most impact on key outcomes at the work-unit level. SMD infuses analytics-driven consulting with scientific expertise in industrial and organizational psychology, artificial intelligence, and deep expertise in best practices for turnover reduction, continuous listening, competency modeling, and talent assessments.
“SMD has focused on helping leaders drive meaningful improvement by utilizing predictive analytics and translating insight into action with a clear process and effective improvement tools for all levels of the organization,” said Shane Douthitt, PhD, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, SMD. “Combining Press Ganey’s and SMD’s state-of-the-art practices will enable one integrated solution that redefines how human resources operates and how leaders act on caregiver feedback to enhance performance. My SMD co-founder, Scott Mondore, and I are proud to join Press Ganey in its mission to help organizations deliver exceptional patient care through a workforce of engaged and resilient caregivers.”
In executing this transaction, SMD engaged Leonis Partners to ensure that SMD was able to fully maximize shareholder value through achieving a best in-class strategic outcome. “Crafting a uniquely tailored process, calling on their deep domain expertise and their contacts in HCIT and HR Tech, and providing heavy senior level attention to our deal, enabled Leonis to find the right buyer for our business and generate the optimal outcome for our stakeholders,” said Scott Mondore. “We could not have found a better partner to deliver better results.”
